Oaxaca

This state is mainly known for its indigenous and Afro-Mexican towns, concentrated in more than 16 ethnical groups, the Zapotec and Mixtec people being the largest. These cultures have successfully survived and kept their customs, unlike other cultures from the rest of the country, since they are located in an isolated territory that is hard to access. The majority of these groups live in the centre of the state, famous for its cultural heritage, that includes archaeological sites such as Monte Albán and Mitla, which makes it a relevant touristic destination.
